General

What is your profile?

Your profile allows you to change the details about yourself once you have purchased a MyCareerCrossroads product. You have the ability to change your email address, your website name, and other details.

 

What is the Non Members Homepage?

If you login as a member (that is, you have purchased an assessment) your homepage will detail the assessments you have purchased and their current status.

You will also be given the opportunity to purchase other products and view useful resources.

The link to the Non Members homepage (at the top of the page) will take you to the home page that non logged in members will see. 

 

Will my session time out?

Yes. To protect you and your personal details a session time out will occur after 20 minutes of inactivity.

We recommend that once you have selected your purchases that you proceed quickly through the remaining steps in the payment process. 

If you are completing Assessments and/or Resume/CV Builder you can return to the point where you were when you were logged off.

 

How do I change my email address or my account name?

You can change the email address for your account and your account name from the profile tab on your home page.

Make the required changes and select the Save Changes button.

You will need to be logged in to view your home page.

 

I am not receiving any emails from mycareercrossroads.com

Some customers may be having problems with mycareercrossroads.com emails being sent to their SPAM or Junk mail folders

To ensure you are receiving all mycareercrossroads emails please check the following details in your email account.

  • Check your Junk or SPAM email folders for any mycareercrossroads emails. Return these to your inbox.
  • Check your Safe Sender settings. Add support@mycareercrossroads.com to your safe sender settings.

How can I change my password?

You can change your password any time from the Change Password tab on your home page.

You will need to be logged in to do this.

 

How do I log out from My Account?

When using a public computer such as in a library or Internet cafe you should log out before leaving the computer.

To log off, visit the top of the page. Between the Welcome to yourname and Non Members is a link to Log Off.

 

What is your privacy policy?

At MyCareerCrossroads we recognize that our customers are concerned about the privacy of the information we collect and our plans for using this information. Our goal is to ensure that we only gather information about you that you want us to have and that we only use this information after we have told you how it will be used and have given you the opportunity to consent to its use.

When you make you first purchase with mycareercrossroads.com you will be required to enter some details including an email address and a password. When you next login, at the top of the page you will find a members logon toolbar. 

Simply entered the email address that you entered on setup and the password that you created at that time.

Security

How do you tell if the internet connections are secure?

Industry has developed technology that can scramble sensitive information, such as your credit card number, so that it can be read only by the merchant you are dealing with and your credit card issuer. This ensures that your payment information cannot be read by anyone else or changed along the way.

There are several ways to determine if you have that protection when you are sending payment information on the web.

  • Look for the picture of the unbroken key or closed lock in your browser window. Either one indicates that the security is operative. A broken key or any open lock indicates it is not.
  • Look to see if the web address on the page that asks for your credit card information begins with "https:" instead of "http."
  • Some web sites use the words "Secure Sockets Layer (SSL)" or a pop up box that says you are entering a secure area.

These security protections do not work in e-mail. So, make sure you send personal and payment information in a secure web transaction.

 

Why do I need a password?

An email and password is required at the time of making the initial purchase. You will require this email address and password when logging on to access the accessment or resume / CV templates that you have purchased.

When you have logged on you can change this password at any time on the members home page on the Change Password tab.

 

How do I choose a password?

The best passwords are not your address, birth date, phone number, recognizable words, or even your pet's name (which might be guessed by someone who has other information about you.). Choose a string of at least five letters, numbers, and punctuation marks.

One easy way to create a memorable password is to take the first letter of each word in an expression or song lyric, and add some numbers and punctuation marks. For example, "tmottobg!5" is derived from a line in "Take Me Out To The Old Ball Game."

 

How should I record the password?

For security purposes we recommend that you do not write down your password however if you need to then ensure that it is kept in a safe place.

 

Is shopping on-line with mycareercrossroads.com secure?

Yes, shopping on-line with MyCareerCrossroads is secure. We use SSL encryption to ensure your personal details and credit card information is secure and cannot be accessed by anyone else except processing staff.

SSL encryption is the industry standard method for encrypting confidential information used by hundreds of thousands of businesses worldwide.

A change in the URL from http:// to https:// notifies you that you are using SSL.

When processing credit card purchases over the Internet, MyCareerCrossroads will verify your credit card information with the Bank of New Zealand (BNZ) prior to processing your purchase.

 

How do I know the page is secure?

There are visual clues on screen that tell you when you have entered a secure environment. On your browser window lower status bar, the key or padlock icon, which is normally open or absent, appears as a solid icon.

 

What are 'cookies'?

Cookies are small text files that store information on your computer. The information is set by the website you are accessing and can only be accessed by the website that sets it. Cookies are used by our online order system to store basic login information (no personal information besides your customer number). This is used to auto-login when you access our website. Access to past baskets and orders are protected by a password request page. The cookies allow access to your private information if you use a shared computer - ie. a kiosk, workgroup or laboratory computer.


If you are concerned about your privacy, please disable cookies (see the help associated with your browser) or delete the cookie file after using the website (see the help associated with your browser). Disabling or deleting the cookie will mean that your bookmarks, order history & other features will be disabled until you login. You will also need to login each time to place an order.

Gift Certificates

I wish to purchase a gift certificate for my friend, how do I do it?

How do I buy a gift certificate?

Simply select the gift certificate you would like to purchase and add it to your cart. You have the choice to have the gift certificate emailed directly to the recepient or emailed to yourself where you can then print and present it to personally to your recepient.

Both types of gift certificate have serial numbers listed on them which your recipient can use to redeem online.  

 

How do I redeem my gift certificate?

Once you have selected the product(s) you wish to purchase, go to the checkout and as part of the checkout process you have the ability to enter the serial number from each gift voucher you wish to redeem.

If the gift certificate does not cover the full cost of the purchase, you will need to also select a payment method to cover the remainder.

 

What happens if the gift certificate I have is worth more than the order I am placing?

There will still be a balance remaining on that gift certificate number.

 

Does my gift certificate expire?

Yes, the gift certificate will expire 6 (six) months after the purchase date.  The expiry date will appear on the Gift Certificate.

No Refunds are available on Gift Certificates.

 

What happens if my gift certificate comes up as void?

If you experience problems in redeeming a gift certificate that has not yet expired then please contact us giving us the details including the Certificate Number and your contact details.

Making a Purchase

 

How do I purchase it?

Once you've found the product/s that you are interested in, click on 'Add to Cart' to put it in your virtual shopping cart. (You can remove items from your cart.) When you've added all the items you wish to buy, follow our easy purchasing process to complete your order-and you will immediately have access to the item that you have purchased

 

How do I cancel or amend my order?

If for any reason you need to cancel or change your order, please use our contact form to contact us. Our system is designed to provide the assessments immediately on confirmation of purpose. If you feel you have purchased the wrong assessment then do not commence that assessment but contact our team immediately. Once an assessment is started we may not be able to provide a refund or resolve the issue.

 

Which credit cards are accepted at mycareercrossroads.com?

At this stage we only accept the following credit cards:

  • VISA cc_logo_visa.gif
  • Master Card cc_logo_mastercard.gif

Are my credit card details safe?

Yes. Security is important to MyCareerCrossoroads, your payment transaction and credit card details are protected by the latest SSL certified 128 bit encryption technology.

 

Why do I need to give you my email Address?

When you place an order, we need to be able to email you to confirm that we have received your order. This email address will allow you to logon and complete the assessments and/or Resume/CV module you have purchased.

 

Can I store an Item in My Cart for the next time l log on?

If you are a new to the site and have not yet purchased and you don't complete checkout then items in your shopping cart will be cleared. If you have logged on as a member then any items remaining in your cart at the end of your visit will still be there when you next log on. You can then pick up from where you left off.

 

Can I remove items from my cart?

Yes, just view your cart and change the quantity to zero (0) then click on the update quantities button.

Payment Processing

How do I get a receipt for my MyCareerCrossroads.com order?

After placing your order, you will receive a "MyCareerCrossroads.com Receipt" email that will contain information on order that includes the products purchased, quantities, price(s) and order transaction reference numbers.

We recommend that you retain a copy of the details for future reference.

 

What is your refund policy?

Gift Certificates are non refundable. Gift Certificates are issued with an expiry date 6 months after the date of issue.

Once you have started an Assessment or Resume/CV Builder module we are unable to provide refunds.  If you have chosen the wrong assessment or module and NOT yet started that assessment or module then contact us as soon as possible providing us with your purchase details including your transaction order number.

Please ensure that you include your email and contact details with your application for refund.

We reserve the right to deduct the cost of any bank charges incurred from the amount of the refund depending on the circumstances.

 

How do I know my order is completed?

You will know your order has been completed and received when you see the MyCareerCrossroads Store Order Confirmation page thanking you for your order.

You will also be sent a MyCareerCrossroads Receipt confirmation e-mail including the details of your order.

Be sure to save this email and receipt for future reference. It will greatly simplify the process should you ever have to Contact MyCareerCrossroads Customer Service about your order for whatever reason.

 

Does the price include GST or VAT?

If you are domicled in New Zealand then New Zealand Goods and Services  (GST) Tax of 12.5% will be added to your purchase. Customers located in countries outside of New Zealand are exempt from GST.

 

Should I keep records about my purchase?

Yes we recommend that you retain copies of the invoice email.

 

How do I know that I am on a secure page?

Assessments

Do I need to do the whole assessment in one go?

No on each assessment you can save and exit and then logout.

When you log on next time go to your home page, locate the assessment you were on and click the resume button - this will take you back to the assessment.

You will be presented with the instructions again as a reminder but you can then click continue.

 

Is there a time limit on doing any of the assessments?

No - you can take as long as you like.

 

Should an assessment be completed at one time or can I come back to it?

You can save and exit each assessment and come back to it as often as you like.

 

Should I do an assessment in private or with someone helping me?

The best results are achieved when you have no time, people or phone distractions.

 

Can I give this assessment to a friend to do?

Yes, although they will need to purchase the assessment separately

 

Can I do several career assessments at the same time?

Yes, although we recommend that you do one assessment at a time so you don't get confused.

 

How accurate are the results?

These are self directed assessments and therefore the validity is not as great as psychometric tests that have been scientifically validated.

 

What happens if I fake my answers to the questions?

For the most relevant and beneficial result you should answer each question as honestly as possible.

 

Can I do the same assessment many times?

Yes, although you will need to purchase the assessment each time.

 

If I answer a question the wrong way, can I change my mind and correct the answer?

Take your time with each response as once the answer has been saved you are unable to change it.

How should I use the results of the mycareercrossroads assessments in my current role?

Use the results and associated reports to assess your ‘fit for role' especially regarding motivation and job satisfaction

 

How do the career assessments help me get another job?

They may help you to assess your motivation for a particular career or job and can also help you to make a choice when you are considering more than one career or have more than one job offer at the same time.

 

How can I contact you for more career advice?

Unfortunately, due to the huge number of visitors and users of mycareercrossroads, we are unable to respond to any individual queries. You may make huge cost savings however by taking your reports to a local careers advisor for further assistance if needed.

 

If I want to talk to someone about these results, what should I do?

As you will have completed your assessments on line at mycareercrossroads, you will save a lot of money in consulting fees if you still need to meet with a Careers Advisor.

 

Will the assessments help me to perform better in my job?

The assessments do not necessarily define performance, but they will assist you in clarifying your motivation and options based on needs other than skills.

 

Do the results of the assessments change over time?

Yes, they may change over time depending on your particular life circumstances and values. You should probably revisit the assessments once a year.

 

How do I save the reports generated from the assessments?

Resume/CV Builder

 

I can't seem to find the way to change the color of my Resume? What am I doing wrong?

Make sure you are clicking the button that reads Update Style

 

I only want interview information - how do I get that without having to purchase a Resume / CV Builder?

The Resume and Interview ‘go hand in hand'.

It's important not to focus on one part at the exclusion of the other or your job search success will be limited.

For that reason mycareercrossroads combines both resume development and interview guidelines to maximise your success.

 

Do I have to complete the Resume / CV Builder at the one time?

No, you can come back to it as often as you like?

 

If I log off from the Resume / CV Builder, how do I come back to it?

Just log on with your user name and password and click the button that reads HOME and this will take you to your completed and non completed assessments and Resume

 

How do I choose just 6-8 Personal Skills and Functional Skills from such a comprehensive list?

The mycareercrossroads technology will help you to identify and prioritise your main skills.

Choose those skills that you most want to take with you to another role.

 

When I am building my Resume / CV, what do I do if I don't have any Professional Affiliations or Memberships to include?

This is optional, so don't provide any details and the CV Builder will format accordingly.

 

I have never received an Award or Honours, how do I skip that part of the Resume / CV?

This is optional, so just ignore that part of the CV Builder and move on to the next part.

 

What should I do if I don't know how to spell a word correctly?

The Resume/ CV Builder will only provide information as you have written it, so always check spelling before inputting into the Builder. You will have the option to edit in microsoft word or other word processing software.

 

Can I go to a previous page on the Resume / CV Builder my pressing the backward arrow on Internet Explorer?

No, this will take you out of mycareercrossroads altogether and a page will appeear that reads Webpage doesn't exist. Press Refresh (F5) to return to the the mycareercrossroads page that you were on.

 

Is there any limit to the number of Cover Letters I can write using the template on mycareercrossroads?

No, you can use this word document as often as you like - remember to download and save each time to your personal computer.

 

How do I save my cover letters?

Click download, and ‘save as' and provde a file name before saving onto your personal computer

 

Can I use the Interview template more than once?

Yes, you can use this for each different job you apply for.

Just download the word document, click ‘save as', and provide a file name before you save onto your personal computer.
